Life Update
I haven't updated in a long time. I've been too busy slacking during the holidays.
It was an average day in school today I guess. Got back ELCCT, which I did reasonably okay for.
Apart from that, we had tennis for PE today, which was really fun. On the way back from PE I made a fool of myself by saying something that I shall not post here. You can pester 4A guys like matthew for what I said (he heard it very clearly).
I've been caught up in this emotional stupor for some reason. Maybe it's because of my newly acquired taste for radiohead's 90's music. Apparently they were deemed too depressing to be played on radio, so BBC banned all radiohead songs at the time. Haha.
Lyrics post
Fake Plastic Trees (Radiohead):
Her green plastic watering can
For her fake chinese rubber plant
In fake plastic earth.
That she bought from a rubber man
In a town full of rubber plants
Just to get rid of itself.
And it wears her out,
it wears her out
It wears her out,
it wears her out.
She lives with a broken man
A cracked polystyrene man
Who just crumbles and burns.
He used to do surgery
For girls in the eighties
But gravity always wins.
And it wears him out,
it wears him out
It wears him out,
it wears him out.
She looks like the real thing
She tastes like the real thing
My fake plastic love.
But I cant help the feeling
I could blow through the ceiling
If I just turn and run
And it wears me out,
it wears me out
It wears me out,
it wears me out.
If I could be who you wanted..
If I could be who you wanted, all the time..
All the time..
What do the lyrics mean? Hmm. I suppose it's up to personal interpretation.
Here's how I see it:
Thom Yorke (lead singer of RH) sings about the fakeness of society nowadays. And living a fake lifestyle wears everyone out. He emphasises also that fakeness cannot be maintained. For example, the plastic surgery that the 'polystrene man' carried out didn't last because the women still turned out ugly when they got older. The last verse probably describes Thom's love interest. He describes his love as fake and plastic, implying that his love is artificial and engineered to suit his girlfriend.
And here's a piano cover on youtube of the same song:
Done by a german dude, but it isn't in german. The best piano cover around for this song.
This concludes my rather lengthy and emo post. I have no mood to work now so I shall go to bed.
